While we sit in deep drought waiting for rain, it is raining nothing but bullies all over the air waves.
We live in a climate where education is touted as the vehicle to move us forward and so it should. However, it seems that something of great import has been left off of the curriculum … how to be really kind and thoughtful.
Sure, it is very easy to be kind to the people whom we like or to those whom have certain acceptable attributes, but being kind or nice to those who are totally contrary to what is acceptable is something totally different.
In my estimation, and it is certainly my opinion, if we have to be choosy about who to be kind and nice to then we cannot be all that nice. It is little wonder then that some children are so horrid.
There are many persons with all kinds of platforms that use those media to be bullies. They are at various functions giving speeches for some philanthropic organization and before they finish making the speech they throw in a line that makes somebody somewhere say ouch! This is essentially a cheap shot at humour at someone’s expense.
It is reaching for the heights while keeping their feet grounded in the fine art of gutter sniping. They gleefully rush to every opportunity to beat down the vulnerable while beating their chest and saying, ‘see I’m better than you!’
This is a direct tell on who people are.
Bullying is bad behaviour and I cannot figure how one can think he/she is better than by exhibiting bad behaviour. Yet this is an acceptable custom as most are ready to jump on that bandwagon.
For a country that often boasts about how Christian we are as a people, we should find another way to show our Christianity than by just showing up to church more frequently than everybody else at whatever day of the week we hold holy.
Philanthropy is great, also is giving service, but is all this not watered down by the very obvious signs of bullying?
I get it!
It is hard to shake our roots. Many of us try to walk away from the tangled mess which is our foundation but find ourselves getting snagged and dragged by the tendrils that escape being buried, no matter how titled, dressed up and beautiful we are.
Education=better?
Seems like something is missing from this equation and I am no brains, Math or otherwise.
